Caltech Loans - Killgore

How To Apply

Students are automatically considered for a Killgore Loan as a part of their need-based financial aid application.  If you are awarded a Killgore Loan, you will have the opportunity to decline it prior to disbursement.

Eligibility

Killgore Loans are designed to mimic the specifications of the Federal Perkins Loan program.  They are generally awarded to students who are not US Citizens or are not otherwise eligible for Federal Student Aid (including most international students) and who have demonstrated financial need

Interest Rate

5%

Subsidies

Interest does not accrue on a Killgore Loan while a borrower is enrolled in school at least half-time, during a grace period or during an authorized deferment.

The borrower will be responsible for paying interest that accrues while the loan is in repayment.  Interest continues to accrue during periods of forbearance, but the student will not be required to make interest payments during the forbearance; the accumulated interest will be added to the principal balance of the loan when repayment resumes.

Repayment

Killgore Loans have a grace period of nine months, starting when a student stops attending school at least half-time.  During this grace period, interest does not accrue and no payments are required.  Once the grace period is over, the loan will need to be repaid.  Killgore Loans are repayable over a period of up to ten years.
